Sherria Hoskins

Sherria is a Professor of Psychology and Education specialising in research and interventions to support educators and learners to overcome barriers to success resulting from a combination of contextual factors and self beliefs. 

She has been the Executive Dean of Science and Health at the University of Portsmouth since August 2016 and was the Head of Psychology before that.  Before beginning her degree in Psychology at the University of Plymouth in 1991 she qualified and worked as a Basic Adult Education tutor. This was the beginning of her passion for understanding learning and what can negatively impact motivation, learning and development.  

Sherria is an invited Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and has been awarded the highest level of accreditation from Advance Higher Education, Principal Fellow and was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship for her work in Higher Education.
