Celebrating the positives …

As lockdown drifts from January through February to March, I’ve been thinking how important it is that we make sure we celebrate the positives. So, here are a couple of highlights from Grit.

We’re so proud to be delivering the Grit Black Leaders workshop as part of the Nottingham Trent University Black Leadership Programme.

An exploration of leadership from a black perspective, we look at how students can use the personal resources and qualities they already have to support their HE journey and on into their careers, at the skills and qualities want to develop, and at the supportive networks and relationships that generate belonging and a sense of community. We look at how, by going to university, they already have a leadership role; about who it is they want to be for others; about what it means to be a visible black leader who can inspire the next generation.

This is a powerful programme we piloted in 2020. We a thrilled to be delivering it again in 2021.

We are so excited to welcome three brand new Grit trustees.

Participant in a Grit residential and coaching programme back in 2018, Annete Kalombodza is university student. “Before Grit I was merely a bystander in my own life; merely spectating. By participating and engaging in the programme I was able to remove the mental barriers that I had placed in my own life that limited me."

Nana Mills-Robertson is a student at the University of East Anglia and podcast co-host.

Her experiences as a participant on a Grit young people’s programme led her to believe each young person should have the same overwhelming support she had from people at Grit.

Mike Parton has been around Grit since 1999 when he was CEO of Marconi. He brings huge financial experience from his time at ICL, GEC and STC, and as Chair of Damovo Group, Tele2 AB, Arqiva and TDC Group.

Welcome one and all. Can’t tell you how pleased we are to have you on board!
